Persian Carpet Care - Cleaning of
Wool Rugs
|
Regular vacuuming of your carpet is
recommended for it to maintain its beauty
and value for generations.
Expect the spills to happen, because a rug
is part of your home and your life, it's a
given that someday an accident will happen
involving it. You can't eliminate the chance
that something will happen, but you can take
steps that allow you to respond when
disaster strikes.
If a liquid spillage occurs first dab a dry
cloth on the spillage to remove the fluid,
don't wipe until the dabbing is done.
Then take a clean colorless damp cloth and
remove the excess.
The key is to react quickly - if it's at
night or on a weekend, don't wait until
Monday and call a rug person. Do it yourself
and do it right away!
Remember, colors in your rug are for the
most part dyed from natural materials, and
can even include the same pigments as
whatever stained your rug, such as wine,
juice, coffee, or even just plain dirt. The
longer you leave a stain on a rug, the more
likely it is that the wool will absorb the
color of the stain permanently.
The above CARE INSTRUCTIONS apply only to
wool carpets of the more expensive variety
as less expensive carpets dyes can run.
